It's beautifully made - even Arnold would be hard-pushed to find any issues. The build quality is easily on par with the best I've seen, and somewhat better than the average Gibson. I have big hands and fat fingers, so I'd been on the lookout for guitars with wider-than-standard necks for a while.

Playing-wise, it took a me a while to adjust to the super-wide neck and particularly the wider string spacing at the bridge. I might have to lower the action a trifle once it's settled in and - in an ideal world - I think I would have preferred a slightly fatter neck carve. But once I got used to it - wow!

Plugged straight into a single ended non-MV tube amp, it sounds stupendous. The tone is huge. There's an endless range of sounds from those BK Blackhawks - anything from sparkly clean single-coil jangle or shimmer to searing or thick saturated overdrive on the bridge and front p/ups, respectively. The sustain is superb. Chords ring out forever and it just sings on the higher frets. Like the very best of guitars, single notes bloom and last indefinitely with a touch of vibrato. And, as I'd expect from BK p/ups, note definition is excellent, even on heavy overdrive, and it cleans up beautifully from the guitar and responds well to picking dynamics.

So, to summarize my first impressions - it's up there with best guitar I've ever owned (a Gibson Les Paul Heritage Series Standard 80 Elite, to give it its wondrous full name) for tonal complexity and sustain - and far better in terms of versatility. I have a feeling the Halo is going to become my Number 1 instrument.
