After 30 years of playing guitar, I had a dream build in my head—an amalgamation of specs and details from all the guitars I’ve loved over the years. I had “meticulated” (my word for obsessing over every tiny detail) this design for years. Enter Jeff and the team at Halo Guitars, the ultimate Dr. Frankensteins of custom builds.

I gave them a wishlist made up of specs from multiple guitars, and they masterfully brought it to life—blending it all together into what is, without exaggeration, the most perfect guitar I’ve ever seen or played. Jeff listened to every idea I had, no matter how small or abstract, and treated each one with care and precision. His obsession matched mine, and the result is nothing short of incredible.

I have been a musician throughout my life and have played guitar for over 20 years. Over the years, I have explored nearly every major guitar brand and currently own more than 15 guitars.

At present, I am in the process of recording my second album and required a high-quality 7-string guitar for a couple of tracks. During my search for various brands, I came across Halo Guitars. I recalled seeing their instruments previously and appreciating their craftsmanship, so I decided to place an order.

Shortly after completing my purchase, I was contacted by Jeff, who provided a detailed overview of the company’s operations and lead times. Initially, I was concerned that the production timeline might be longer than anticipated, but that was not the case. Before long, Jeff informed me that my guitar was ready for shipment.

The shipping process was efficient, taking approximately two business days. Upon arrival, the guitar was securely packaged, and to my satisfaction, it was ready to play immediately—there was no fret buzz, the action was set low, and it was precisely tuned to drop A, as requested. It has been quite some time since I have purchased a guitar that required no additional adjustments upon delivery.

It is unfortunate that Halo Guitars does not receive greater recognition, as I believe many musicians may be overlooking the quality and craftsmanship that the brand offers.

Guitar is good... the setup and the hardware all seems to be working well. Can improve with better communication. I understand custom work takes time and sometimes emails get missed, but I would've hoped for regular updates.

Loving it so far. The quality nice. Great communication. Can improve by decreasing time from order to shipping and offering more color options.

I love it. The fingerboard fits my fat fingers comfortably. It arrived fine in its packaging and I inspected it closely, looked perfect. I'm sure it will provide me with years of growing as a guitarist.

FWIW, my experience with UPS was incredibly frustrating. Their website said a 3:30-5:30 delivery the first day, they came at 9:45 and I wasn't home. Second day I was home and in a back room and I did not hear them (they were an hour early). Finally the third day I caught them. Meanwhile I tried to divert it to a pick up but the website said it was too big to store for a pick up. Meanwhile interacting with phone and chat bots was the usual frustrating experience. Why post times for delivery that have no relationship to actual and you can't store a guitar for a pickup? Not like it's a piano. Just glad I got it. Thanks for the great customer service!

I received the guitar a couple of days ago and have been playing ever chance I get. The wide neck and extra space between the strings make this a joy to play, especially when fingerpicking. The overall build quality is solid and I'm really liking the active pickups. The only downside I've encountered, is that when using a plectrum, it tends to make contact with the neck pickup, so I may have to either adjust the height of neck pickup or my hand position, but this is a minor complaint and not an issue obviously when fingerpicking.

I ordered a fully custom Iceman inspired 7 string. I threw in every crazy spec I have ever wanted in a guitar since I started playing 20 years ago. It could not have come out more perfect and the team that helped pull it all together was extremely helpful and supportive every step of the way. Could not be happier!

Communication and support through the whole build process was amazing! Some kind of formal progress update or build photos would have been awesome to have, both as a status update and a cool thing to have.

This was my 3rd halo. The first was stock (though modded to my request), the second was a semi-custom and this one was a full custom. I will absolutely be getting more down the line and beyond stoked to be a part of the Halo family.

The guitar is very well built and sounds great. I love the matte finish and the Fishman pickups. Not sure if I missed it on the specs but it’s a little heavier than I thought it would be. It’s not too bad but I’ll probably have to upgrade the strap. The Evertune bridge is really nice but I’m not sure I totally understand the best way to change tunings. I didn’t detect any fret buzz and the action was nice. I’d definitely buy another Halo.

The instrument is beautiful, plays great. Bareknuckles are the best pickups in my collection. Some minor issues.

- "Baritone" but it ships in drop D. I wish it came a whole step or two lower without an extra fee. My setup choice was overlooked by accident, customer service let me know and proactively refunded the fee.
- First time with locking tuners and I was trying to tune lower. Two strings slipped out, too short to be rethreaded under tension. Probably my error if the locks were loose, but I wish they'd been wrapped at least once too.
- Finishes on the neck and body are open satin and gloss respectively, both look amazing. Mine has a smudgy transition between the two as if some gloss got under the masking tape. Invisible to the audience.
- Strap locks are required, but provided. Upper peg is at an angle that lets unlocked straps pop free. I think the angle induces more neck dive. Maybe placing the peg on the back would lessen it, hard to say.

Amazing craftsmanship. Guitar has good intonation. Make more amazing guitars!

Ordered a left handed neck to replace on my old Warmoth. I love it. Please tell everybody at Halo who worked on it they did an amazing job. It's now the guitar I've always wanted. If you ever get some Halo hats made, let me know

I didn't realize the guitar would be such high quality and handled with such great care. People are sleeping on Halo Guitars, I highly recommend them. Thank you Jeff and friends!

The instrument is beautiful and plays great. I'm glad I bought it. It's not without flaws.

- It's a baritone guitar, but it ships in drop D tuning. I don't know if that's typical, but I wish it'd arrive a whole step or two lower out of the box. I paid for a custom tuning setup that was overlooked in their system, but customer service proactively refunded the setup fee.
- Detuning, the highest 2 strings both slipped out of their tuning pegs. Not wrapped even once, so they can't be rethreaded, must be replaced. Hate to waste good strings.
- The finishes between the neck back and body back are open satin and gloss respectively, which is fine, except mine had an unsightly transition between the two.
- If you don't have strap locks, you'll need them. The upper strap peg is at an angle that makes unlocked straps pop free easily and could contribute to neck dive, as the strap tries to settle the guitar at too low of an angle. Thankfully it's not very heavy.

Found Halo through Google. I'd recommend. Neck was so much better than expected. The build quality, the fit and finish, the overall look, everything is phenomenal. Amazing job, love the work you guys do.

Absolutely love this guitar, The team made every little adjustment and upgrade I wanted and it came out perfect!

So far, I like it a lot, both the guitar and the costumer service were great.

It looks awesome, plays great and sounds thick! Very impressed with the setup as well. My guitar tech didn’t have to do anything basically when setting it up.

There were a few minor that wasn’t perfect... however, this isn’t anything that bothers me. It will most likely get a few dents after a couple of shows anyway :)

It sounds and plays beautifully! Really happy with it. Feels sturdy!
