Trends come and go, but the one thing we can all agree on is this: there is no substitute for caring about what you do.

We started building this company 15 years ago and it has taken a lot of hard work and a fair share of getting our hands dirty, which brings us to this week's Pro-Tip: Where to find the serial number on a Halo guitar.
We are proud of the fact we craft every guitar from scratch and every Halo guitar gets a hand-stamped serial number.

In most cases, your serial number will be stamped on the inside of the electronics cavity that is on the back of your guitar.

Let’s take a quick look at Halo's serialization code to see what it all means! Each serial number will start with an “I” for Import or "D" for Domestic. We build the vast majority of our guitars at the Halo Factory in China while only a select number of guitars are built at our shop in Cupertino, California. If there is “C” in the serial number, then it stands for "custom." If there isn't a "C," then it means the guitar is from a small batch production run. The remaining digits correspond to the year your guitar was built (e.g. "18" stands for the year 2018) and from there it is just the sequence number, which represents the nth guitar we worked on at that time. For instance, if your guitar's serial number reads IC1884 it means your guitar was the 84th guitar we worked on during that particular time in our custom shop circa 2018!

Since we craft all our instruments in small batches, we can make sure the human touch is maintained throughout the entire build process before it arrives in your hands where it belongs.

Now that I know where the serial number is, I will take a photo of it when my custom arrives should the guitar ever get stolen. Nice touch on the treaded insert for the cover hold down.

Can't find serial # on my Halo guitar ,there is an inspection sticker on back of head stock

Hi Jerry - if there isn't a serial number on your Halo, then it's possible it is from the early years when we did not serialize our instruments. That would be 2004 to 2007. Hope this helps! - Jeff Lee, Halo Custom Guitars

Cheers what if the serial number is stamped at the last fret on the fretboard? Where would that guitar be made 108mbo10 is stamped

Hi Randy - we used to stamp our serial numbers into that part of the fretboard. It was made in China in 2008. For reference, all Halo instruments have been made in China since the company was founded in 2004. - Jeff Lee, Halo Custom Guitars

I have a Halo Merus with ID number of IG 14 MR 66. What does that translate to? thanks JJL

Hi James - it means the guitar was made in 2014 and the sequence number for it is 66. Thanks! - Jeff Lee, Halo Custom Guitars
